Those dark under eye circles bags or shadows can be caused by allergies, heredity, lack of sleep but are most often a loss of collagen on the cheek or above the cheek bone. This skin sinks in and creates a shadow under the eyes or down the cheek bone. We often call this “pseudo allergies” because we look like our eyes are puffy or tired and neither allergy medications nor sleep eliminate these shadows.

Dermal Fillers
Dermal Fillers such as Restylane, Perlane and Radiesse can be injected over the cheek bone and under the eye area to fill in the loss of collagen and reduce or eliminate the shadowing under the eye and fill out the high cheekbone that becomes lost over the years. There is some downtime for some patients due to swelling or bruising but it is usually minimal. A nerve block or local anesthesia is injected to make the procedure virtually painless. The product on some people can even be injected from the inside of the cheek resulting in even less redness and bruising.
