Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). As you age, time, sunlight, and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume - creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds, like those “parentheses” lines around your nose and mouth, the loss of volume in your cheeks, and the lips. All of our fillers contain lidocaine, and we utilize topical numbing agents to make your treatment a comfortable experience.
A consultation with your Radiance medical professional can determine which dermal filler is the right choice for you. There are long-term and temporary fillers to choose from.
Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC
Juvederm is a “new generation” FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler for correction of mild to moderate wrinkles and folds. Juvederm may last up to one year with one treatment. The XC formula contains lidocaine, a common anesthetic, to provide a more comfortable experience during and after treatment. The Ultra Plus formulation is a more robust filler giving more fill. Juvederm XC provides the smooth, natural-looking results you expect with the improved comfort you want. Radiance uses exclusively the top-of-the-line Juverderm Ultra Plus XC.
Restylane® and Perlane® and the new Restylane Lyft
Restylane and Perlane are FDA-approved fillers also composed of hyaluronic acid. These fillers are currently used in facial folds and the lip borders. Topical numbing cream can be used to eliminate any discomfort from the injection, and the lidocaine in the filler makes for an almost pain-free treatment. After receiving your initial correction a touch-up is recommended at 4-9 months.
Radiesse is a volumizing filler. Radiesse is an FDA-approved, facial filler that contains crystals to stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Radiesse is one of the longer-lasting injectable fillers. It is used for facial folds, creases and soft tissue augmentation.
It is great for cheeks and chin and where a large volume is required. It can cause swelling and bruising, initially, but with touch-ups can last 1-2 years. Radiesse creates scaffolding with micro-beads that stimulates your own natural collagen to grow around the microbeads resulting in a natural, soft effect. www.radiesse.com
In considering dermal fillers there are certain precautions. To help avoid bruising it is best to discontinue aspirin, Vitamin E, ibuprofen, and fish oil as well as any other anti-inflammatory medicines for one week prior to the injection. If you suffer from facial or cold sores and are having an injection into the lip, it is best to take medication for them prior to and after the injections.
